RESIDENTS and community organizations are once again invited to apply for Thurrock Council’s Community Environmental Development Fund (CEDF) to see their innovative ideas for the community come to life, as applications open this week.
Until Sunday September 18, applicants can apply for between £5,000 and £75,000 in CEDF grants for community-led projects that aim to provide long-term benefits to residents and are accessible to all.
Cllr Qaisar Abbas, Cabinet Member for Communities and Equalities, said: “CEDF is a fantastic opportunity for our residents to see their big ideas for making Thurrock the best possible place to live, work and play a reality.
“Over the past six years, the funding has brought more than 60 diverse community projects to life. This includes Thurrock Harriers Athletics Club, Grays, which received a grant in 2021/22 to replace its floodlight towers with energy efficient bulbs and mechanisms, and will lead to a huge reduction in carbon emissions. The Thurrock Christian Fellowship has also been supported in 2020/21 with a grant which has enabled them to expand and extend the food bank warehouse in Corringham to support our most vulnerable residents, whilst providing additional space for community events.
“I invite anyone in the Borough who has an innovative idea for a project or work plan that can bring lasting benefits to our community to consider applying for a CEDF grant and receive support from our departments to see if and how it can be brought back to life.”
