Bangkok – The Thai Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is to develop an environmental management plan for the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) which also affects the development of the quality of life of the citizens of the region.
The plan is to focus on industries and tourism as well as the environment and will call for joint efforts of all parties and opinion-gathering sessions between relevant agencies and stakeholders. The project aims to contribute to the improvement of the EEC, which spans the provinces of Chacheongsao, Chonburi and Rayong, and will run over a period of four years from 2018 to 2021. Its main concerns will be to avoid pollution air, protection against chemical disasters, reforestation and the creation of a support network. In total, three phases will take place, an initial phase, a network construction phase and a completion phase.
All opinions and views will be taken into account before the plan is submitted to the UNECE Development Policy Commission.
